Pelican Briefs

This popped into my head the other day, I don't know why. Another excuse to experiment with textures & give it a vintage screenprinted feel.

  2. thanks Jane! yeah I tried not to think about what I was doing too much when drawing the letterforms because my natural designer's instinct is to make everything nice and straight and I wanted something a lot freer & throwaway almost!

  3. This is really lovely :) If you don't mind me asking how did you make this? I LOVE the vintage feel but find it difficult to incorporate into my work as I don't really know how to make it happen. :)

  4. Thanks Joanne! yeah it took me a while to find out how to do this technique, it's basically just experimenting with layering different textures with different blend modes in Photoshop. The actual illustration & type was all drawn in Illustrator & then I copied & pasted the whole thing into Ps. There's some good free textures here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/bittbox/page14/
Vintage paper always makes stuff look good & try layering other grainy textures like concrete set to overlay on top & use layer masks to mask any bits you don't want overlapping.
